Caledon, ON — November 18, 2023 — The Hill Academy, an independent school for dedicated student-athletes, proudly celebrated National Signing Day on November 13 with seven students committing to NCAA schools as part of the Class of 2024.
National Signing Day, which began on November 13 for all NCAA sports excluding football and basketball, marks a pivotal moment for over 48,000 student-athletes globally who sign their National Letters of Intent (NLI). This binding agreement between student-athletes and their chosen colleges signifies both their commitment to attend for the upcoming academic year and the colleges’ commitment to provide athletic financial aid.
"Today is one of those memorable stops on a long journey, like a special point on a family road trip," said Brodie Merrill, Athletic Director at The Hill Academy. "It's a time to pause, celebrate, and reflect on how far you've come. But remember, this isn't the destination—it's just a pit stop on your journey. You've done a lot of hard work, to now sign up for more hard work. We are immensely proud of your progress."
For Hill Academy student-athletes, National Signing Day represents the culmination of years of dedication, growth, and preparation. This day highlights their academic, athletic, and character development and their readiness to take on new challenges at the collegiate level.
Guided by The Hill Academy’s expert coaching and NCAA-focused counseling team, these student-athletes made their post-secondary decisions with careful thought and consideration. To celebrate this achievement, students gathered with family and friends at a special Signing Day event held on The Hill Academy’s Caledon campus on November 13.
Since its founding, The Hill Academy has supported over 175 student-athletes in securing NCAA scholarships. This commitment to excellence has produced 47 All-Americans and over 100 NCAA team captains. Additionally, more than 80% of Hill Academy graduates consistently earn the Ontario Ministry of Education's 'Ontario Scholar' designation for maintaining averages of 80% or higher in their top six Grade 12 courses.
